Lot 105: Jaguar XJSC V12 Cabriolet

When, in 1975, the E-Type went out of production. Jaguar, for the first time in their history, were left without a convertible in their range. This state of affairs would remain unchanged until the protests raised by American dealers reached a crescendo and Jaguar introduced the XJSC in 1984.The XJSC actually left the Jaguar factory as a coupe, which was then converted into a cabriolet by Tickford. The model was one of the first to use the new AJ6 engine but was also available in V12 form.The V12 powered model is, by far, the rarer of the two models, being introduced in 1985 and discontinued in 1988, after only 3,000 or so had been built. Home market, right hand drive, V12's accounted for only one third of the total production, making the XJSC V12 one of the rarest open top Jaguars ever built.This 1986 example is a V12, which is said to be in good, all round condition and is complete with an excellent history file, showing that the car has received excellent mechanical attention over the years. The car is also equipped with, chromed, later style, Jaguar alloy road wheels.Finished in blue with doeskin leather, the car is said to be a very clean, sound example.
