Lot 110: Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0

Designed by Pininfarina and first seen as the Duetto in 1966, the Alfa Spider acquired a cult following after appearing in the movie The Graduate, which starred Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. The original Boat Tail design was dropped in 1967, in favour of a more aerodynamically efficient Kamm Tail, when a 1962cc version also became available. The model continued in production for over 27 years, until the early nineties, with only detail changes to the original 1966 Pinifarina design. Offered here is a 1974 2.0 Spider, which is said to have been restored to a very high standard. The car is offered complete with a photographic record of the restoration and a huge history file. Owned for 14 years, the car has been used sparingly and is presented in outstanding condition. The car was the subject of a 4-page feature in Classic Cars magazine in early 2002. A copy of the magazine will be available in the history file.Finished in red with black interior, this Alfa Spider is described as being one of the finest available. It has the 2.0 Twin-Cam engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
