Lot 116: Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5
Classic Collectors & Historic Cars, Barons (19th June 2007)
The new 280SE used the same 2778cc engine as the 280SL but could also be had with the "all new" 3.5 litre, alloy V8 from the larger saloons. While the 2.8 litre, six cylinder model had more than adequate performance the 3.5 V8 version gave the car a real edge and was capable of propelling this heavy saloon car to indecent speeds in a totally unruffled manner. The example offered here is said to have been owned by Mercedes specialist for some time and is complete with full service history.Described, by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout and to be equipped with a number of period options, which include a factory sunroof and luxury velour interior. The indicated mileage of only 104,000 miles is warranted as being correct, at the time of writing, and is supported by the history file. This Mercedes was bought at Barons in April 2003 and has covered less than 2000 miles in the intervening years.
