Lot 205: 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Saloon

The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow was first registered on 7th September 1976 and delivered new to Lord Leverhulme, heir to the Unilever fortune and Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire. As such the car was designated as the official �Royal� Rolls-Royce for this area as the Royal Family chose not to transport their fleet all over the UK. According to Lord Leverhulme�s long-term chauffeur Peter Blake, this car has been used on official duties to transport almost every member of the Royal Family except the H M The Queen herself. These include Diana, Princess of Wales (on two occasions), Prince Charles, Princess Margaret, Prince Andrew, The Queen Mother, Princess Anne and others. The car was sold to its second owner who only kept it for five weeks before selling it to the current vendor 13 years ago. At that time it had covered circa 97,000 miles with Lord Leverhulme and has since traveled a further 14,000, the odometer currently displaying a total of 111,000 miles. The car was usually serviced at the factory during Lord Leverhulme�s ownership with one or two additional main dealer services. The current owner has spent around �20,000-plus over the years with Meads of Burnham and more recently with Broughton�s to keep the car in fine fettle including a total brake overhaul, suspension upgrade, new manifolds, updated air conditioning and whatever else was needed.
The car is finished in Masons� Black and has a totally original, stone-carpeted beige leather interior that has never been re-Connollised, while the woodwork is perfect and the complete tool kit is present. Large and comprehensive, the history file contains the service history from new including details of the many works carried out at Crewe together with confidential paperwork concerning a Royal visit and letters from Lord Leverhulme�s chauffeur to the current owner.
