Lot 252: Triumph Special Racing Motorcycle

Robust and tuneable, the twin-cylinder Triumph engine has for decades been a favourite with specials builders seeking to combine the virtues of this class-leading power unit with handling qualities lacking in the standard chassis. The most famous of all such hybrids is the Norton Featherbed-framed Triton, while almost all the specialist professional frame makers have built chassis to accommodate the Triumph twin in its various guises. The maker of this particular machine’s frame though, had not been identified at time of cataloguing; indeed, the chassis may well be a ‘one off’ fabricated by a past owner. The engine is of the ‘pre-unit’ type and breathes via twin Amal Concentric carburettors, while the gearbox is BSA. Nothing else is known of the specification of this bike, which is offered from the estate of the late Pim Hascher, the famous Belgian collector. No reserve.
