Given the affectionate nickname 'Panzer Wagon' due to their legendary robustness and build quality, together with the slightly squared off styling, the 107 Series of Mercedes SL roadsters are sill held in high regard by many aficionados of the marque. Their eighteen-year production run is testament to the fact that they were 'the right car for the time', seemingly as popular in 1989 as they were when introduced in 1971. Although the 6-cylinder 280SL was a latecomer to the party, introduced in 1980, it was none the less a popular choice, sharing much of the refinement of the bigger V8 models but with less of the financial outlay. This 1980 example is finished in a livery of White, with the interior trimmed in a combination of Brown M-B Tex and check cloth with beige carpeting. In father and son ownership since new, the son having owned the car for the last seven years, the recorded mileage of less than 82,000 is supported by a full history. The vehicle is described as being in good overall condition with the exception of some bodywork blemishes and a worn drivers seat squab.
