Lot 209: 1995 Porsche 911 993 Coup
Porsche Motor Cars and related Automobilia, Bonhams (27th July 2007)
One of two 993s in the sale that come to market following driving school duties at this circuit, this left-hand drive Coupe with factory-fit electric sunroof was manufactured in 1995 in silver with blue leather and with 3.6-litre, 6-cylinder, air-cooled engine to pre-Variocam specification. After one private owner in the UK and following acquisition by Silverstone Circuit, the fixed head was fitted with a 6-point roll-cage by Safety Devices, a hand-held fire extinguisher and 4-point safety harnesses for both front seat occupants. The suspension was up-rated to provide a firmer ride, the brake pads changed to Pagid blue material and the most attractive combination of a Carrera Cup style front apron/spoiler and purposeful-looking RSR-type rear wing added.
Among the paperwork are 72 Silverstone Maintenance Log Sheets dating from 20 May 2005 at 53,659 kilometres to a record of the most recent work carried out 13 May 2007 at 71,445 kilometres, which, we are advised, is likely only to have increased to circa 72,000 kilometres by sale day. Apart from the radio, which has been removed, and the air-con which is declared to be not working, the original interior appears still to be standard with dash and instruments, door cards and rear trim as well as headlining all in place. The condition of the seat leather, original and wearing well, is particularly pleasing.
Apart from there being a current V5, we are advised by the vendor that M705 NCG will have been freshly MOT Tested prior to sale day and interested parties are therefore advised to check-out the presence of a current certificate in the documents file during viewing. Apart from being a potentially inexpensive Type 993 road car, M705 NCG would also be ideal for driving to/from and taking part in Track Days, would be fairly easily made to comply with the latest MSA regulations for taking part in the challenging yet novice-friendly PCGB Speed Championship of hillclimbs and sprints, or, for that matter, turned into a dedicated tarmac rally car or trailor-born circuit race car. Whatever the end game chosen for the car by a new owner, a 993 of any kind has rarely been this affordable.
