Lot 33: Porsche 911 Cabriolet
Sale of Classic and Collectors' Motor Vehicles, BCA (19th February 2007)
The Geneva Show of 1982 was to see the advent of Porsche's first full cabriolet since the 356, the body being built by the Reutter Division. Surprisingly, the overall weight of the car was the same as that of the SC Coupé and some 30lbs less than that of the targa. Typical of the high standard of the Stuttgart engineers, the hood was a thoroughly well designed, easy to use piece of equipment, claimed to also minimise heat loss during the winter as well as remaining taut at speed. When the motoring press tested the car they reported no rattles or shakes from either the body or the top. Over the years, the 911 has been continually developed and improved, remaining a front runner in the supercar league as well as being thoroughly practical and a true delight for the enthusiastic driver. A 1993 model of the 964 Series, this Cabriolet is now offered for sale due to the vendor's imminent house move. It is understood to be in good condition throughout mechanically with the metallic Midnight blue coachwork being of extremely good appearance. Seventeen inch Carrera Cup alloy wheels are fitted, these having recently been refurbished and the car benefits from a clear lighting upgrade. The dark blue hood is said to be in good order, as is the light grey leather trim. Extensive service history is provided. The most recent service has included new brakes, oil cooler, hubs and front wheel bearings and a full engine service, with only 2000 miles having been covered since. The car is offered for sale with a recently renewed MOT certificate and V5 document together with the aforementioned service history.
