Lot 337: 1978 Triumph 744cc T140 Bonneville
Collectors' Motorcycles, Bonhams (21st October 2007)
The icon of the post-war Triumph range was the Bonnie, a lusty twin which was every schoolboys dream in the fifties, maturing into the more powerful unit seven-fifty, lasting until the demise of the original company in 1982. The fame of the name meant an instant re-incarnation by Triumph at Hinckley. This particular Triumph has been the machine of a mature rider, who, bowing to the march of time, has replaced it with a Mercedes convertible! Last used in 2001, this Bonneville is in standard trim, indeed in its makers original chrome and black and red paint, needing only the normal re-commissioning before use. A V5C and a collection of old MOT certificates are present.
