Lot 116: Mercedes Benz 450SL

The Mercedes-Benz 450 SL was produced from 1973 through to 1980. During its production life-span, 66298 examples were built. Under the bonnet was a V8, OHC engine capable of taking the car to a top speed of well over 120 mph and sprint from zero-to-sixty in just over ten seconds. The 450 was the longest in production of all of the 107SL range and is renowned for its longevityOffered here is a 1978 example of the 450SL, which has covered just 54,000 odd miles in 29 years. This statement is supported by an extensive service history and previous MoT certificates. Supplied by Nomad of Mayfair to a Mr. L Curtis of LC Clothes Ltd, Folkestone as a gift for his wife, the car was originally registered in the company name. This was followed by a period in the name of Mrs Cutris, until, in 1993, she passed away. The car was then registered to Mr Curtis, when it had covered just 38, 832 miles with full service history. There is a covering letter to this effect in the history file. Over the next year the car was bought by Mr and Mrs Preston, who sold it to its third owner in 1994, when it had covered 40,000 miles. The car remained with this owner until 2007 covering a mere 14,000 miles in 13 years. Finished in silver with blue check cloth interior, the car is described as being in outstanding condition.
