Lot 105: Jaguar S3 4.2 Sovereign
British Heritage + Classic Cars, Barons (11th September 2007)
The time is September 1968 and the Telegraph magazine has a large feature on the new Jaguar saloon. The journalist is wowed by the ride quality and all-round performance of this new Jaguar, as would all those who tested the model over the coming months. The new model was, of course, the XJ6, which was often awarded the accolade of the "Best Car in the World" and formed the basis of the Jaguar saloon range for the next 20 years.By 1987, the XJ6 had been through two design changes and the 4.2 version had been dropped but the V12 continued through until 1993, when it to was finally replaced by the XJ40 6.0.Offered here is 1984, 4.2 Sovereign, which has been in the current ownership for 19 years and was previously owned by a major pharmaceutical company and chauffeur driven for the first 4 years of its life. It has covered a mere 53,184 miles from new, which is warranted as correct and supported by 18 MoT certificates.Finished in green with biscuit leather the car is equipped with the usual options, which include, a/c, sunroof, electric windows and mirrors.A fine example of the model with just two owners and low mileage, which is only being offered for sale due to bereavement. The photograph is of a similar but not identical car.
