1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce Spider CompetitionRegistration Number: EU registered Chassis Number: 10103169000 Alfa Romeo launched a Spider version of its new Giulietta at the same time as the saloon model in 1955. The new sports car was styled for Alfa Romeo by Pininfarina and looked like a true thoroughbred. A pure two seater, the Spider bore all of the traditional Alfa hallmarks, such as the front grille and plain steel road wheels. Under the Giulietta's skin, the chassis employed independent front suspension with a coil-sprung live rear axle and drum brakes all round. The twin-camshaft four cylinder engine, like the suspension, owed much to Alfa Romeo's racing experience and the new model soon built on the competition success of its predecessors, winning its class on the Mille Miglia, Targa Florio and Tour de France the same year, plus outright victory on the Alpine Rally. This rare and desirable 1,600cc Veloce Spider was manufactured in 1960 and is finished in red with a contrasting white factory hard top, while inside it is equipped with bucket seats, roll cage and safety harnesses. This beautiful little car has competed in the most glamorous historic events Europe has to offer, including the historic Targa Florio, Coppa Dolomiti and the Rally of Elba.
