Lot 119: Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 16V

Designed by Pininfarina and first seen as the Duetto in 1966, the Alfa Spider acquired a cult following after appearing in the movie The Graduate, which starred Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. The original Boat Tail design was dropped in 1967, in favour of a more aerodynamically efficient Kamm Tail, when a 1962cc version also became available. The model continued in production for over 27 years, until the mid nineteen nineties, with only detail changes to the original 1966 Pinifarina design but in 1995 the new 916 Spider was introduced. Still a Pininfarina design, this new Spider was based on the GTV Coupe and came with a 2.0 Twin Spark, 16 valve engine or a 3.0 V6 Offered here is a 1996 example of a 2.0 16V Spider, which is said to have had only two previous keepers and is complete with service history, previous MoT certificates and bills. The car has recently undergone a cam belt service. Finished in metallic Bordeaux red with grey interior, the car has power steering, air bag, electric windows and alloy road wheels.
