Lot 1396: BSA DB34 Touring Goldstar
Vintage MotorCycles, Cheffins (26th April 2008)
This Scottish machine was purchased from its original owner, a retired Dundee bus driver, in 1973 having been discovered in a wooden shed in neglected but untouched condition. This Touring Model was one of only a few sold in the UK with the big fin DB series engine and was purchased with its original logbook. Some several years elapsed before the re-build was eventually undertaken in 1988-89, the aim being to keep the Goldie as standard as possible. NSR 129 then moved on to just its third owner in 2000 when it was purchased for a 60th birthday present. The recipient of this machine has since sadly died and the family now feel that the time has come for a new custodian to take over ownership. Supplied is a most comprehensive history of the purchase and re-build by the second owner including images of the bike in its 'as found' state, this is recommended reading for any prospective purchasers. Whilst in its third ownership the BSA was a much admired object but received absolutely minimal useage and since late 2006 has been dry stored. Some re-commissioning is therefore, likely although the family hopes to have it in running order prior to the sale.
