Lot 1398: Benelli 250 2C ex TT Production Racer

U.K. Benelli importers Agrati Sales entered two machines into the TT production races in the early 1970's, on offer is one of these machines. Rescued from a garage in Welwyn by the current owner in the early 90's a restoration was undertaken and has resulted in a fine machine which has taken part in 10 TT parade laps, the last in 2000. Supplied with comprehensive evidence of its racing history in the form of copy programmes and result listings between 1974 and 1976, the Benelli has featured in a contemporary article in Motorcycle Sport, August 1975, written by Vic Willoughby, (copy supplied) as well as featuring on page 80 of the August 2000 edition of Classic Bike which depicts the Benelli at the start of that years parade lap. The most striking feature of the Benelli is its 7 gallon alloy tank, most useful for the 10 lap races around the TT course, together with its fabulous Grimeca double sided front brake. Unused for the last 7 years but given the occasional start up, the proddie 250 2C has been on exhibit at a North London museum since, offering the opportunity to once again take part in the prestigious parade laps this is a machine that will give immense enjoyment to its future custodian, study of the history file is recommended.
