Lot 204: 1980 Porsche 928

The 928 was a very different car in many ways from anything that the Stuttgart based firm had produced to date. It came at a time when Porsche were trying to expand their range to include a truly grand touring car. As such, it was fitted with a brand new all-alloy 90 degree V8 engine with a capacity of 4,474cc and then fitted to the Bosch K-Tronic fuel injection system. This provided the new car with a very torquey and flexible engine which produced 240bhp and propelled the car to a maximum speed of 143mph and an acceleration time of 0-60 in just 7 seconds. Todays example is described as being as in good general condition with some considerable expenditure lavished upon it quite recently. It has had new carpets, battery, new wheels and tyres and a complete alternator overhaul. This top end cruiser also benefits from a Sony CDX-C5000R stereo and remote Thatcham approved alarm.Taxed and MoTd until the end of August, this is a smart and stylish example of one of the most iconic Coupes of the 1980s. It is described as being in excellent condition, has a fully stamped Porsche maintenance book, owners handbook, receipts for work and parts, and various old MoTs. The current owner has had the car for three years, covering less than 10,000 miles in that period. The wheels have been refurbished and fitted with new tyres, new cambelt and water pump, radiator, steering rack, brake discs and pads. Enormous care and expense has been lavished on this, one of the great grand tourers.
