The Mercedes SL dates back to the 300SLR look-a-like 190 of the nineteen fifties but the most influential SL was the Pagoda, which replaced the 190 in 1963.The clever hood mechanism and factory hard top gave this model a wide appeal. With the "Pagoda" hard top in place, one could be excused for believing one was riding in a fixed head coupe, but with the hood retracted into its stowage space, the car had beautifully uncluttered lines. The SL was updated in 1971 but the new car borrowed heavily from the "Pagoda". Though bigger and heavier, the new car managed to retain the classic looks and the model continued to be the choice of the rich and famous well into the 1980's. It was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty without an SL making an appearance. Offered here is a 280SL, which not only benefits from having covered just 57800 miles, at the time of writing, but is also equipped with a host of options, including rear seat, ABS Brakes, cruise control, alloys, fire extinguisher and metallic paint. The car was owned by a lady from 1993 to 2007 and has been registered to her, personally and to her company during that time.
