Lot 170: Norman 197cc B2S de-Luxe
Vintage and Collectors Motorcycles, Bonhams (20th June 2009)
Norman, of Ashford in Kent, came back into manufacture post-WW2 with its wartime autocycle and a small range of Villiers-powered motor cycles. A re-vamp of that range in 1949 introduced the 'B2' 197cc model, re-designed in 1955 with the popular Villiers '9E' unit and much better equipment. Sadly, Norman production tailed off in the late '50s, the last machines leaving the factory in 1961, the name going to Raleigh Ltd. VTU 203 was registered in late 1958 to 'de Luxe' specification with rectifier and battery lighting in the swinging-arm frame. Apparently original and in good and restorable condition, with most mechanical spares easily obtainable, this Kentish motor cycle should soon be back on the road. This rare Norman comes complete with a V5 and the original RF.60 Log-book.
