Lot 37: Triumph STAG

Originally conceived in the mid-1960s and finally announced in the summer of 1970, the Triumph Stag, styled by Michelotti, was an excellent concept offering, as it did, family accommodation with effortless performance from the newly designed 3-litre V8 power unit.� Equally attractive in open form or with the hard top fitted, the Stag went on to enjoy great success, remaining in production for eight years.Dating from 1978  the final year of production  this Pimento red Stag has the manual gearbox with overdrive and is reported to have covered just 39,545 miles at time of writing.� It is understood to be in essentially original condition and has both soft and hard tops,with the soft top said to be a replacement item in black mohair.� The vehicle's mechanical condition is understood to be good throughout, commensurate with the low recorded mileage, while the braking system has benefited from a replacement servo and master cylinder recently, and a stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted.� The mileage is understood to be supported by MOT certificates.� During the last year some �2,800 was spent with a renowned Triumph specialist.�
