Lot 217: AJS K9 500cc.
Annual Transport Auction MotorCycle, Peter Francis (19th April 2008)
A "Joe" Stevens! built engines in Wolverhampton from 1897, his sons built the first "AJS" motorcycle in 1909. The next 60 years saw magnificent success on the race tracks scrambles & trials circuits of the world including IOM TT'S. The road bikes achieved similar success as a result. This early, relatively unmolested, machine has been in the same ownership since 1961. Mid Glamorgan vendor confirms : last taxed in 1961 (!), South Wales owned from new, original buff log book & old type "V5", not run recently but turns over.
