Lot 033: 1994 YAMAHA FZR600R
MotorCycles, H&H Classic Auctions Ltd (1st March 2007)
The increasing importance of the 600cc Supersport class was acknowledged by the organisers of the TT when they introduced the Supersport 600 TT in 1989 as a replacement for the Production C race. In the FZR600 Yamaha had competitive machine although it was not until 1994 that they achieved a win. The new model followed the design practices established with the introduction of the larger FZR models but relied on 4 valves per head rather than the 5 of the larger models. MCN had described the 1994 Yamaha FZR600R as "The new boss" of the middleweight class following their first road test, a conclusion that was supported when the new machine won the 1994 Supersport 600 TT at a speed of 115.31 mph in Iain Duffus hands. The machine has been housed in a private collection and is presented in very good condition in the livery that it competed and won the 1994 TT in.
