Lot 110: 1938 Ford V8 Coupe

Ford's 1937 models, as exemplified by this 85 bhp model were very much of the period with their, then fashionable, teardrop headlights fared into the front wings, a "waterfall" radiator grille and smooth flowing lines that gave a thoroughly modern appearance. The transverse leaf spring suspension provided a smooth, softly-sprung ride while hydraulic drum brakes were fitted for the first time. This corrected a failing of previous models, all of which suffered from poor brakes, and were essential to cope with what was quite lively performance, via a three speed transmission and the well proven V8 engine.Manufactured in 1938, this Ford V8 coupe is resplendent in two-tone green and is described by the vendor to be in very good condition. The car was imported to the UK from New Zealand in April 2002 and is believed to be the only example currently in the country and is particularly rare as it is a right hand drive model. The car has recently been restored with the grey cloth interior in excellent condition. The smooth running 4.1 litre V8 engine is also in good order. DAS 797 is supplied with a V5C document and an MoT certificate valid until June 2007.
