Lot 01: Daimler V8 250

First introduced in 1962 as the 2�-Litre, this model combined the elegance of the Jaguar Mk 2 body shell with Edward Turner's superb all-aluminium V8 engine. All the usual Daimler accoutrements were incorporated and the model was to prove extremely popular. From 1967, the designation V8 250 was applied, with the model now being readily identified by the new style slimline bumpers. In this guise it was to run until 1969, by which time over 17,000 examples had been produced. Dating from the final year of production, this particular V8 250 is finished in beige with red leather trim and has been in the current ownership for the past eighteen years. The recorded mileage currently standing at 78,681 may well be correct and records of work carried out upon the car whilst in the hands of the present keeper are detailed. The car has never been restored, simply maintained in good order, with the engine and gearbox said to have been reconditioned in the past and the brakes receiving a full overhaul. Now offered for sale due to the owner's retirement, the car is in need of some cosmetic refurbishment and is offered with documentation which includes the aforementioned list of work undertaken along with an MOT certificate current until 2nd December 2008, plus a V5C registration document. A number of bills are also supplied.
