Lot 06: MG MIDGET MK II

From 1964, the MG Midget was to undergo various revisions, the most welcome being the lockable doors which now featured winding windows with quarter lights, replacing the side screens on the earlier series.� This necessitated a deeper windscreen which further enhanced the model's appearance.� Along with its sister model, the Austin-Healey Sprite Mk III, these cars proved an enormous success, bringing sports car motoring to the enthusiast of modest means.�A 1965 example of the Mk II, this Midget has undergone much restoration work and is smartly presented in Almond Green.� It boasts several modifications including the fitment of Minilite-style alloy wheels, a rollover bar, keyless immobiliser system and the fitment of the 1500cc engine and gearbox as used in the final series Midgets.� Said to drive very well with vivid performance, the only fault evident is the rear axle which is somewhat noisy on the overrun.� The cockpit boasts bucket seats and in all it is a most appealing little motor car.�
