Lot 04: Jaguar Sovereign SIII V12

Although originally developed for the Series III E-Type, it did not take too much persuasion for Jaguar's engineers to slip the superb V12 engine into the XJS body, the resulting XJ12 proving an instant sales success.  By 1993, now in Series III form, the XJ12 became the Sovereign 5.3 and survived the introduction of the newer XJ40 Series saloons.  Continuing silently and smoothly and largely unchanged, the model was assembled by hand in a corner of the Brown's Lane works until 1993, when the XJ40 models had the engine bay altered in order to accept the new 6-litre version of the engine.First registered on 24th October 1989 and finished in British Racing green with Magnolia leather trim, this Series III Sovereign is said by its vendor to be a very good example and has been carefully stored for the last three years, having been in the hands of its previous owner since 1993.  Documentation shows a speedometer change in 2002 at 90,000 miles and we are advised that the current recorded mileage of 95,749 is correct, the current speedometer now reading 5749 miles. Fitted with the desirable factory metal sliding sunshine roof, this impressive looking Series III Sovereign has extensive service history, a V5 registration document and a recently renewed MOT certificate, and is ready to provide very affordable motoring for its new owner.
