Daimler was once the Marque of choice for, not only the British Royal Family but also, for many in the Empire. In the post war period the Marque was usurped by Rolls-Royce but still continued to provide the, Jaguar MKX based, DS420 limousine until the 1990's for Royal and Ministerial duties.Daimler was acquired by Jaguar in 1960, but no Daimler models were carried forward or developed. The last pure Daimlers were the Majestic and Majestic Major, which both ceased production in 1964. The Daimler identity has been proudly used on flagship Jaguar models, starting with the V8 2.5 Saloon in 1962.The Daimler offered here is the Sovereign 4.2 Series Three, which is based on the XJ6. The car has the 4.2 XK engine mated to a three speed automatic transmission and is in quite outstanding condition.
