Lot 113: Mercedes-Benz 350SL

When the 107SL was introduced in 1971, it had to live up to the reputation of the very successful "Pagoda" model, which had been in production since 1963 and had proved to be very popular.The 107 continued the same basic design but was a little bigger and somewhat heavier than the "Pagoda". The disappearing hood mechanism and removable hard-top remained but the engine options now included the 3.5 litre V8, which powered the new saloon range.A hugely successful model, The 107SL remained in production for 17 years with the basic design largely unchanged. Engine options did expand to include a 2.8 straight six and larger capacity V8's, which grew to 5.6 litre by the end of the production run in 1989. Offered here is a 350, V8 example of 1977 vintage, which is said to be in sound usable condition, complete with both tops and a current MoT through to July 2007. It is finished in metallic silver, has blue MB Tex seats, with cloth inserts and has the three speed automatic transmission. The vendor states that everything works and that the car drives well.
