Lot 106: 1968 Lincoln Continental
Grandes Marques, Coys (13th January 2007)
In the 1960's the luxury car market was mainly dominated by Ford and a sister company was formed to create a luxury car range. The car company Lincoln was established to cater for this demand. In 1968 Lincoln brought out the Lincoln Continental and was instantly adopted as the best form of transport for leading business men and VIPs. The car is probably familiar to many as the most popular form of transport for America's presidents and was widely used for parading presidents, most famously John.F.Kennedy. who as we all know was assassinated in a convertible Lincoln. The car was also famously featured in the James Bond movie Goldfinger where the car was crushed into a cube.In terms of specification the car is in excellent condition and has a mighty 8 cylinder 7.7 litre engine which is classic of the period and the nation. The rear doors are of the 'suicide door' type which is now an unusual sight in today's motoring. The car is attractively finished in dark grey with a complementing Connolly hide interior in tan. The car was imported from the sunny climate of Palm Springs in California and has been very well maintained all its life. As a result it is reported to be rust free and recently some 10,000 have been spent to bring the car to the excellent condition in which it is presented today. Among the work done is a retrimmed interior in finest Connolly leather, a new air conditioning pump, new brakes as well as a stainless steel exhaust system have also been fitted. It sits on wild billet chrome wheels but if the car is already 'bling' enough for you the original wheels and hubcaps come with the car and can be fitted. The car is said to be running very well and drives very smoothly. Here is a great chance to purchase a really iconic classic automobile from the infamous 1960's in much better condition than most on the market today.
