Lot 19: Daimler Six

Having become part of Jaguar Cars in 1960, the majority of new Daimlers were to be based on their Jaguar counterparts.  These included the XJ6 Series from 1968, the  Daimler versions distinguished by the traditional fluted radiator grille surround and boot finisher, along with a suitably tailored equipment package.  From 1986, the Daimler Six was replaced, along with the XJ6, by the new XJ40 Series of cars, with the new AJ6 power units, though there was no 2.9-litre option, the Daimler receiving the 221bhp 3.6-litre.  Both the handling and ride complemented the elegant looks of this model whilst performance was a respectable 130mph maximum with a 0-60 time of less than 8 seconds  truly a refined and genteel express.his metallic blue example has been in the hands of one private owner for the past thirteen years, with total mileage reading 36,260, supported by previous MOT certificates and service history.  Equipped with all the usual Daimler niceties and resplendent in Solent blue metallic, the car has obviously been well kept with virtually flawless bodywork.  Inside, the leather trim and carpets are in blue-grey and close to unmarked, especially in the rear, as is the wood veneer trim.  Initially supplied to Unilever PLC, the mechanical condition is good throughout, the car having been serviced by the supplying dealers, Stratstone Ltd, initially, then Jaguar and Rolls-Royce specialists and Jaguar main agents.Supplied documentation includes the original handbooks and service book containing 15 service stamps up to 36,056 miles, along with a file including the V5C registration document, 11 previous MOTs showing minimal mileage covered in recent years, and the current certificate valid to March 2007.
