Lot 214: Jaguar XJS Convertible

The XJS was launched over 32 years ago and remained in production for over 17 years. Often miss-described as an E-Type replacement, which it never was, the XJS was actually a supreme GT Car, in the fullest sense of the word. Highly capable of covering thousands of miles at a whisper, with excellent handling, a choice of the 285bhp V12 or 4.0 straight 6 engines, the XJS was a real success story. What the XJS failed to do was address the fact that, once the E-Type was dropped in 1975, Jaguar did not have a convertible in their range. It would be another 13 years before this failure was fully addressed. Offered here is a 1991 example of the wonderful V12 convertible, which has covered only 54600 miles in 16 years, in the hands of just three owners. Said to have been used as a high days and holidays car by the second and third owner (the vendor), the car is completely standard and is equipped with the usual options associated with the model. These include power hood, windows and mirrors, cruise control, air con and power seat adjustment. The car is also equipped Tracker security system and a short tonneau cover.
