Lot 219: Triumph Stag MKII

Is it 38 years since the Stag was first launched as a World Beater? Styled by Michelotti, powered by a compact, 3.0, V8, with 2 +2 seating and proper luggage space. This attractive package had all the ingredients of a world beater and should have sold in huge numbers. In fact, just 25, 877 Stags left the Canley plant before BL dropped the model in 1977. Fortunately there were those who recognised the fine qualities of the Stag, even in the darkest days of 1970's Britain and because of them a surprising number still survive. In the intervening 30 years, since the Stag was dropped from production, many specialists have developed and honed the Stag mechanics and its suspect cooling system. Modern oils and corrosion inhibitors have also helped and the Stag is now a capable, reliable sports tourer. That unmistakable V8 burble in an open car has attracted a whole new audience. Offered here is a MKII example, which has just 56, 000 miles on the odometer, supported by history and MoT certificates. Recent works include a complete exhaust system, including manifold, fuel pump, starter motor, power steering rack and pump, seat belts, brake pads + shoes, track rod ends and fuel lines. Finished in Russet with tan interior, the car is described as being in good, overall, condition and is complete with soft and hard tops. The vendor also advises that he has recently had the car serviced and MoT tested.
