Lot 224: 1968 Pontiac Grand Prix - One family owner until 2007

The Pontiac Grand Prix was introduced in 1962 as a single hardtop model based on the 120 inch wheelbase Catalina platform, Pontiac's shorter big-car chassis. Sporting straight lined styling along with the bucket seats and centre console interior popular at the time, the Grand Prix represented a new way of thinking for exterior design as it was tastefully restrained and nearly devoid of bright side trim. Restyling for 1968 included new hubcap discs, bumper skirts and dual exhaust pipes, while standard equipment comprised Morrokide bucket seats with contoured backs and armrests, centre console and all General Motors safety features; power was provided by a 400 cu in V8 and delivered via a three speed manual transmission with floor change. This would be last year that the Grand Prix would be based on the B-body. This particular example is finished in white with a matching white interior and is described as being in good condition. Manufactured in 1968, it resided with one family owner in America before being imported to Great Britain earlier this year. The car has all EU taxes paid and is supplied with a V5 registration document and a MoT certificate valid until May 2008.
