Lot 140: 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo LE
The Excellence of Porsche, Coys (9th September 2007)
1989 Porsche 911 Turbo LERegistration Number: G912 RBV Chassis Number: WPOZZZ932K50When Porsche revealed that the original 911 would be replaced by the new Type 964 in 1990, it was announced that a special, limited-edition batch of 50 Turbos would be built, incorporating as standard features that previously had been available only as factory optional extras. These included rear wheel air intakes, side skirts and a front spoiler, creating a look reminiscent of the Type 935 Le Mans sports racers. A Getrag five-speed gearbox was already standard on the Turbo, to which a limited slip differential was added for the LE and an extra 30 horsepower to give a maximum output of 330bhp, making it the most powerful variant ever built. This right-hand drive Porsche 911 Turbo LE was sold new via Ian Anthony (Bury) Ltd and first registered on 1st August 1989. Included in the accompanying history file is a letter from previous owner Ashley Levett (dated 7th October 2004) stating that the vehicle had been owned by him since October 1991 before being transferred into his son's name in May 1994. Mr Levett further states that between 1994 and 2004 the Porsche was not used, having been kept in a dehumidified environment and run on a regular basis as well having had its oil and fluids regularly changed. Thus it would appear that the car has spent only nine of its 19 years on the road, contributing to its excellent state of preservation and low mileage of circa 26,300. G912 RBV comes with a dealer-stamped service booklet, while contained also within the history file are numerous invoices for recent work by various specialists, including Porsche Centre Cardiff and Porsche Centre Leeds. Some £7,000 has been spent in the past two years on work which included fitment of a complete new clutch assembly and an upgraded air conditioning system. Finished in Burgundy with red/cream interior, the car is offered with a MoT test certificate valid to July 2008 and V5 registration document. A stunning example of the ultimate 911 Turbo presented in excellent condition throughout.Estimate£30,000-£40,000
