Lot 301: 1977 Jaguar Ex Gianni Versace XJ6 4.2
Légende et Passion Monaco, Coys (14th May 2005)
In 1968, the XJ6 replaced the large and diverse range of Jaguar saloons and soon proved itself to be one of their most significant cars ever. It set new standards in handling, comfort and silence without compromising any of Jaguar's established attributes such as performance and value. It became the yard stick that luxury saloon cars were set by, when released Car magazine voted it Car of the Year, whilst in Daimler V12 engine format it was voted Best Car in the World. As the car developed its refinements became greater, in the US, it was regarded with higher status than Rolls Royce or Bentley and Jaguars vast export market ensured that sales remained high throughout the 1970's and 80s'.Such was the style and status of the car it attracted heads of state and captains of industry alike, however this particular example was the former property of fashion guru Gianni Versace. Purchasing the car new in 1977, it remained in his ownership for some time, and would have no doubt transported him from his home in Milan to his studio where he became the leading light in the fashion world until his untimely death. Purchased directly from Mr Versace by the current owner the car still retains its Milan registration and comes with copies of the registration certificate bearing his name. Finished in blue with a tan leather interior the car remains in good original condition. Cette voiture date de 1977 avec peinture bleu et sellerie brune. Elle est fournie avec correspondance l'acte de vente M. Versace (en copie).
