Lot 1129: Vincent Comet
Verified by the Vincent Owners Club as having left the Stevenage factory on the 17th April 1951, the Comet was sent to dealers Jenkin & Purser of Portsmouth. The ensuing 58 years have not seen FRV 479 recorded anywhere until the current custodians colleague discovered it in a dilapidated garage in the South West. After some protracted negotiation with the elderly owner it eventually made its way into deepest Suffolk where a complete restoration has been carried out. Sadly no original documentation survived but the Comet was in good shape and required the purchase of very few parts, now a truly gleaming example with rebuilt engine, new paint and handsomely liveried wheels a real period piece has emerged and would grace any show with its presence. Part of a private collection the Vincent has not seen road use since its restoration and clearly careful running in will be required. Supplied with a current V5C this is a rare opportunity to acquire a verified original Comet that is a real jewel.
