Lot 112: Porsche 911T

From its humble beginnings, as a 2.0 litre, flat six successor to the 365 in 1965, the 911 has become one of the worlds most revered automobiles. The model has won in every form of motor sport and maintained a huge following over its 43 year history. By the early seventies the 911 engine had grown to 2.2, then became a 2.4 and then the 2.7, which, in uprated form, powered the highly desirable RS. In the mid 70's the 3.0 barrier was breached and the Turbo was added to the fleet but the purists will always cite the early cars as the most desirable of the breed. Offered here is a 2.2 litre, 911T of 1971 vintage, which was originally supplied in California, where it remained for the next 31 years, when it was bought by a Canadian gentleman. In 2004 the car was repainted in its current livery and has been equipped a later, leather, interior with electric Recaro seats. The car was imported into the UK in September 2006 and has been in daily use since. It has benefited from a brake overhaul, receiving new seals, cunifer pipes and flexible hose and is equipped with new tyres on the Fuch's alloy road wheels. The car is said to run clean and evenly on its triple Webber carbs, the 5 speed, dog-leg gearbox is described as being quite and smooth in operation and the car is said to be a delight to drive. Having spent 90% of its life in California, the car is said to be rust free and is described as being an excellent and usable example of an early 911.
