Lot 306: 1974 Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera Targa

The 1974 model year saw three significant changes to Porsche's evergreen 911. Firstly the engine size was increased to 2,687cc, giving a welcome increase in torque, secondly impact bumpers were introduced to conform with the low speed protection requirements of American law - these bumpers being so successfully integrated into the design that they remained unchanged for 15 years - and thirdly, K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection was installed on the 911 and 911S models. These two now had a detuned version of the Carrera RS's engine producing 150bhp and 175bhp respectively and, unlike the top of the range Carrera which had wider rear wheels and was still fuelled via mechanical fuel injection, they retained the narrow rear wings of the old 2.4 models. Manufactured in 1974, this left-hand drive 911 Carrera 2.7, originally delivered to Germany in June of that year, is described by the vendor as being in good condition throughout and with very good panel fit. The recently part-overhauled engine has been looked after well and this pretty classic Porsche, finished in the most attractive colour combination of black with a black interior, and complete with red Carrera signage above the sills and a RS-style rear wing, is reported to drive very well.
