Lot 030: 1960 A.J.S. 16M TRIALS
MotorCycles, H&H Classic Auctions Ltd (1st March 2007)
AJS and Matchless had been experimenting with a pivoted fork rear suspension system during the war and recognised the benefits that it offered to both road and competition riders. This trials example features a shortened and lightened rear end aiding the manageability of the motorcycle in tight trials sections. It has previously been used competively by John Bridges and Malcolm Hall before entering a private collection. The owner describes it as having an excellent engine and cycle parts and being in good to excellent condition in all other respects following a restoration in the 1990's. Although displaying a registration number it is not accompanied by a log book.
