Lot 151: 1958 CZ 175cc Cezeta
Professor Fritz Ehn Motorcycle Museum Collection, Bonhams (30th June 2008)
Looking like a two-wheeled jet-ski designed for the TV series Thunderbirds, CZs futuristic Cezeta owed its unusual appearance to the fact that its bulbous fuel tank was located above the front wheel. The Czech firms first motor scooter appeared in 1946, with the Cezeta following in the 1950s. Powered by a 171.8cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine, the rubber-suspended Cezeta was also marketed as a Jawa under the Boheme model name. There was even a three-wheeler version the Type 505 which was available with a variety of commercial bodies. Smaller-engined Manet and Tatran models followed, although none of these Eastern Bloc scooters made much impact outside their home territories. An absolute must have for the serious scooter collector, this wonderful Cezeta was purchased from Bhmen in 1993 and placed in the Museum after a test run. There are no documents with this Lot.
