Lot 11: Bentley MULSANNE S

In the autumn of 1980, a new Bentley model range was introduced, based on the floorpan of the previous T2 Series. With attractive elegant styling by Fritz Feller, this new model was especially pleasing and very much in the modern idiom. Making its debut at the French Motor Show, the Mulsanne and its Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit counterpart were to prove most worthy successors to the previous Silver Shadow and T-Series models. The Mulsanne took its name from the famous straight at Le Mans where some half a century earlier the Bentley team had established their legendary sporting reputation. Capable of over 120mph and sumptuously equipped, the rectangular headlamps and the noble Bentley radiator grille ensured a great presence allied to dignity in the true Bentley tradition. From 1987, the non-turbo charged Mulsanne was replaced by the 'S' version with more power and it is a 1988 example of this model that is offered for sale here. In a pleasing livery of Brewster Green with Parchment hide upholstery, the car is seemingly in original condition with the recorded mileage reported as being 64,100 at time of writing. Recent work is said to have included servicing, together with replacement of front shock absorbers, spring pans, rear springs, brakes and propshaft coupling. The vehicle is now being offered for sale due to space requirements with documentation including an amount of service history, V5C document and an MOT certificate current until 24th April 2009.
