Lot 125: 1971 Morris Minor Traveller
Spring Auction, Coys (20th April 2005)
The Morris Minor was launched at the first post war British Motor Show in 1948, by the time the two-door tourer version had ceased production in 1969 an incredible 1,583,622 cars had been produced!Sir Alec Issigonis had produced this motoring icon, the other being of course the Mini. These cars were almost the English 'Beetle', a typical people's car. They provided utilitarian transport for a great cross section of society, from school teachers to police officers, their enduring popularity with the British motorist has earned them a place in the hearts of many people. In fact, it is their rugged durability and practicality has seen then continue to be popular and in recent years a number of specialist company's have provided completely re- built cars for the growing demand. This 1971 car finished in beige with a light brown interior (known as 'Bedouin') has the distinction of once having served in the British Army before finally finding its way to a specialist restorer where it was completely recommissioned approximately five years ago. This included the rebuild of the engine, chassis, brakes and new paintwork. In addition, a new interior and head lining was fitted to the car.Described by the vendor as being in good general order, it is supplied with an MoT until June 5th 2005 and is registered as a road tax free historic vehicle.
