Lot 105: Alfa Romeo Alfasud 1.5 Ti 2 dr

Alfa Romeo launched its first "all new" model for many years in 1972, the Alfasud. The Alfasud was a compact sports saloon that was completely new, the engines and bodyshell had not been used in any previous Alfa Romeo models. The Alfasud came only as a four door saloon, however there was a choice of engines which included 1186cc, 1286cc (1977 onwards), 1350cc and 1490cc (from 1978). The Alfasud developed quite a loyal following, because of its excellent handling characteristics and willing boxer engine. Between 1971-1983 over 500,000 Alfasud's were produced, the model was eventually replaced by the Alfa Romeo 33. This example has the 1.5 injected engine, which is mated to a 5-speed, manual, transmission. It is said to be in "Time Warp" condition with a sound, solid body and strong mechanicals. During its 22 year life, the car spent 9 years in a private collection, covering just the mileage to and from the MoT station each year. In 2000 it was again laid up in dry storage until recommissioned 2007, although it is said to have been started and run regularly when in storage. Finished in Bianco (white) with grey/black interior, the car has covered just 39,600 miles and is complete with every previous MoT certificate, service invoices, service booklet and handbook. The car also has the original dealer pack, key fobs and is fitted with the original number plates. A rare survivor and very collectable.
