Lot 1403: Alcyon 150cc Flat Tank
Vintage MotorCycles, Cheffins (26th April 2008)
French manufacturer Alcyon were once leading manufacturers in their homeland, gradually buying up several other well known brands. The firm also has the distinction of competing in the 1912 Isle of Man TT races with 350cc OHV singles featuring two inlet and exhaust valves. However, despite this and the fact they had started by producing potent V-twin powered machines, between the wars they mainly had a range of small capacity 2-stroke and 4-stroke powered bikes including side-valve units. They also achieved considerable racing success with 175cc racing machines. After the war they stayed with small capacity machines and ended up concentrating on mopeds before they went out of business in the late 1960's.This is a good example of one of their mid 1920's models with chain drive. In generally good condition it would form the basis of a straightforward restoration or simply ride as is after some re-commissioning work. No documents are available for this machine.
