Lot 410: 1975 Puch MV50 Moped
Pioneer, Vintage & Collectors' Motorcycles, Bonhams (27th April 2008)
The advent of Sixteener Special sports mopeds in the 1970s allowed the Austrian firm of Steyr-Daimler-Puch, long-established as makers of two-stroke lightweights, to grab a substantial slice of the UK learner market. Meanwhile, the popular Maxi range continued to cater for commuters. There can be few, if any, better surviving examples of the Puch MV50 than this one, which was purchased new by the current owners brother in September 1975 and used by him and his daughter for recreational riding only. The vendor acquired the machine in 1999. MWP 657P has covered fewer than 5,000 miles from new (as evidenced by accompanying MoT certificates) and is remarkably original, even retaining its original tax disc holder, tyre pump, owners leather wallet and service manual. Presented in mint condition, the machine is offered with Swansea V5/V5C registration documents, current road fund licence and MoT to March 2009.
