Lot 080: Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII

The final and ultimate production development of the Austin Healey 100/3000 range arrived in 1964, the 3000 Mk III. The Mk III now had even more power than before (150bhp) and even more luxury compared to earlier models. Standard mechanical equipment now included a brake servo and twin trailing arms for the rear suspension. The biggest changes appeared inside the car, including a wood veneered dashboard, a centre console/gear surround and better seats. This particular MkIII was first registered on 3rd January 1966 and built between the 10th and 13th December 1965. An original right-hand drive car, it has the original registration number it was issued with and has matching chassis and engine numbers as confirmed on its Heritage Certificate (the vendor states that it even has the correct key numbers). The vehicle received a full nut-and-bolt restoration in 1982 with an engine rebuild in 1984, all documented by receipts and photos in the history file. The car is said to be extremely sound and genuine with an excellent chassis, interior and hood. The vendor further states that It is in its correct colour scheme and trim/options are all correct and it even has its copper hide mallet and shelley jack. It also comes with its original first two green log books showing all original owners. With a current MOT and tax and said to drive beautifully, this looks like a very nice example of what is widely considered to be the best Big Healey model of them all.
