Lot 202: Mercedes-Benz O 319 Panorama Bus
In the 1950s Mercedes developed the Typ 319, when Germany in the midst of their "Wirtschaftwunder (economic miracle) after the second world war needed more and more transport facilities. Other car producers such as Volkswagen, Hanomag, Faun, Borgward and DKW had already introduced different offerings for that lucrative niche, and Mercedes could not stay behind. First presented on the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1955, the Typ L 319 (L standing for LKW = Truck) and Typ O319 (O for Omnibus) were available with both petrol and Diesel engines, producing up to 80 hp at the end of the production run in 1966. This delightful O319 has been meticulously restored to the highest standards and is the rarest and most desirable of them, the Panorama-Bus with comfortable seating for 9 passengers. Most attractively finished in light blue over ivory with a blue leather interior, this fantastic Bus is probably better and more luxurious than when it left the factory. The previous owner was famous German TV presenter Jörg Pilawa. Ein wirklich seltenes Exemplar des allseits beliebten Mercedes-Benz O 319 Omnibus, hervorragend restauriert und mit einem luxuriösen blauen Lederinterieur versehen. Mann muss diesen Bus wirklich sehen, um den Standard dieser Restaurierung zu glauben. Der frühere Besitzer war niemand anderes als Jörg Pilawa.
