Lot 130: Bentley Arnage "Red Label"

Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (27 February 2012)

When the Bentley Arnage Red Label was introduced at the 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show its specifications listed a figure of 835 Newton meters of torque; nowhere in the world was there another four door saloon car that came even near this enormous figure. The new Bentley was a clear indication on what Volkswagen was willing to spend on re-branding the marque with an inimitable profile of their own, while retaining the racing history. The Bentley Arnage Red Label (the "Winged B" logos on the car were embedded in red enamel) was clearly separated from the Bentley Arnage Green Label. Shoehorned under the Red Label's bonnet was the "familiar" turbo-charged V8-engine with a capacity of 6.75 litres, the one that was used on the huge Continental coupés and the Azure convertible, whereas the Green Label was powered by a mere 4 ½ litre V8-engine that came from BMW. The example offered here was originally registered in England on a 2001 Y registration and was registered in N.Ireland around 2004 when it was retailed for £80,000 The vendor acquired the car, from a main Jaguar main dealer in Belfast, in 2011 and has used it only sparingly since then. The car has covered just 57,400 miles from new and is described as a good, straight original car. Finished in midnight blue with magnolia hide, piped blue, the car is equipped with all of the options associated with this model . It is currently on a cherished registration which will be retained and the car returned to a Y plate.
