Lot 106: Austin A60 Light Van

In 1957 BMC introduced the Austin/Morris A55 Cambridge to replace the A50 model. It used the same 1.5ltr B-Series engine as its predecessor, though with a higher compression ration and 51bhp was now available. Just over 150,000 were produced when it was replaced, in 1959, by a new Pininfarina-designed, A55 but the van and pick-up versions remained in production until 1971, based on the pre-"Farina" bodies. In fact the half-ton van and pick-up received A60, 1625cc, mechanicals and the A60 name in 1962. Offered here is a rare survivor of the A60 Light Van, which is presented in excellent order throughout. It has recently flown through the MoT inspection with the tester reporting that there no major faults with the van. Finished in green with contrasting green interior, the van is equipped with a bench seat, 1625cc, four-cylinder engine, four speed, manual transmission, wing mirrors, spot+ driving lights and alloy wheel embellishers. This rare, half-ton, van is said to drive very well and is ready to be put to work as a great promotional vehicle for a small business.
