Lot 25: Chevrolet CHEVELLE COUPE

The Chevrolet Chevelle SS represented Chevrolet's entry to the midsize muscle car battle with its own range of engines and performance equipment. First offered with just a 327 V8, the Chevelle SS was found to be slightly wanting and would soon sport big-block 396 V8s. It was one of the most popular cars from this era, both on the street and at the track, due to its strong performance at a reasonable price. 1968 saw a major redesign of the Chevelle. The wheelbase was shortened by three inches and gained new styling, the hood was stretched out and the rear deck was shortened. The recessed rear window was converted into a fastback style and the rear side windows were given a "V" look, while the front end gained a rakish design with bold swept-back lines that extended from bumper to bumper. As the 1968 Chevrolet advertising legend for the Chevelle stated, It'd be a big mover on looks alone&...A real head turner, this purple/blue metallic 'resto-mod' example features an aluminium induction ram atop the twin Edelbrock carburettors that protrude through an aperture in the hood. As if this were not enough, the flanks and hood are adorned with flame graphics. The bark from the straight big-bore dual exhausts and the flash from the centre-spinner style billet aluminium wheels will certainly attract the attention of anybody who may not have been paying attention! Beneath that hood lies a 'tricked out' 396 cu in big block V8 sporting a host of performance and detail parts. The black interior is a little less brash, featuring high-back bucket seats, a three spoke wheel, T-handled floor shift and ancillary gauges.Built in the Kansas City plant, this vehicle is UK registered, having last been resident in Nebraska. Documentation comprises a V5C registration document along with a current MOT certificate and a copy of the Nebraska title certificate.
