Lot 151: Ford Mustang GT Coupe

The Ford Mustang remains the most successful Ford ever produced, in terms of first year sales. When first launched in April 1964 (half way through a model year), the Mustang caused a sensation and stocks were sold out within two hours. By August 1965 Ford had sold 600,000 Mustangs. The first model available was the Coupe and it accounted for the vast majority of sales for the next 4 years. Offering 2+2 seating and a real boot (trunk), the Coupe was eligible for Saloon Car Racing and Ford soon recognised that track success on Sunday meant sales success on Monday. The Mustang Coupe was homologated for Saloon Car racing and proceeded to do extremely well. This 1967 289 GT Coupe is part of a private collection, which is being reduced. It is an immaculate example, which has undergone major restoration and refurbishment, with many invoices in support. Finished in red with white roof and red interior, the car is equipped with 289 CID V8 4V Premium GT engine, a rare 4 speed manual gearbox and 3.00 to 1 diff ratio. The car is fitted with chrome wheels, whitewall tyres, deluxe Pony interior, with bucket seats and a detailed, show condition, engine bay.
